According to Omi & Winant (2014), the issue of racism in the US has continuously resulted in inequality, especially for minority races and groups. Racism is perpetrated mostly by the white community who view the minority races such as the Hispanic, Africans as illegal immigrants and foreigners. Despite the country boasting of elite people, Miller & Garran (2017) believes there is still a new form of racism being practiced in some cities such as Texas. The continuous racism practice in the country has motivated the study to investigate the effects such kind of racism has on the economy of a city like Texas, USA.
General Research Question
The general research question in this proposal is:
What are the effects of racism on the economic development of Texas?
Economic development captures both qualitative and quantitative aspects that affect the determinants of good quality life such as access to social amenities. Economic development is hence, a wider concept compared to economic growth.
Specific Research Questions
The specific research questions, in this case, are:
1. How does racism in workplaces affect the economic development of Texas people?
2. How does racism in schools affect the economic development of Texas people?
