Topic 1: In a recent newspaper release, the president of Magnusson Company asserted that something has to be done about depreciation. The president said, “Depreciation does not come close to accumulating the cash needed to replace the asset at the end of its useful life.” What is your response to the president? Class,
Please research and explain the reason companies have to depreciate fixed assets. Also, what companies do when fixed assets totally depreciated in the accounting books while the assets still work?
How do you respond to David PLEASE DO NOT FORGET THE REFEREFNCES
I would agree that the president is correct with the statement regarding depreciation not accumulating the necessary cash for replacement. There is little they can do regarding the actual depreciation of an asset. Depreciation is a fact of life in business when it comes to assets. What they could do to help with cash flow, at least in the long run, is do what they can to get the most out of their assets. For example if the company purchases a truck for $40,000 and they account for 5 years of depreciation and a salvage value of $5,000 at the end of those 5 years, they would have a straight-line depreciation expense of $7,000 annually. At the end of the 5 years if they’ve done an excellent job of maintaining the vehicle and it is still quite useful, they can continue to use the vehicle well beyond the 5 years. During the extra years they will not have this expense and can accumulate some cash for the eventual replacement, as the company is not required to do away with an asset at the end of the 5 years. (Merritt, 2018)
As the president said, depreciation does not come close to accumulating the cash needed for replacement, but taking care of assets and extending the life of them can help towards accumulating cash for replacement equipment.

How would you respond to Krista PLEASE DO NOT FORGET THE REFEREFNCES
With everything I have read about depreciation I would say Mr. President your are on point with his view on how depreciation of assets does not help with cost of replacing said asset. When you own a car you do everything to keep your vehicle running staying on top of oil changes and maintenance to get longer useful life out of it but the vehicle value still depreciates then we have to turn around and reinvest a large sum of money to replace it. I remember when I purchased my first car I was told the value of the vehicle drops as soon as I pull off the lot so why even bother buying a new car.

Topic: Training Effectiveness
Many times, training results are not measured sufficiently and/or correctly to provide valuable assessment data regarding the efficacy of the training. The training objectives need to be clear, and tied to specific business goals. The manner of measuring training success should be determined at the beginning such that effective evaluation can be performed post-training and any remedial action or follow-up to the training can be enacted.
Scenario:
Suppose you are a training leader at a manufacturing company. You have been asked to deliver a report about how you will assess the effectiveness of a new training program your department is going to develop regarding more effective customer service at your call centers and addressing the increased product returns. There have been decidedly too many customers hanging up after holding on the phone line for 5 minutes or more and too many customers doing in-store returns of product.
· Explain what action would be appropriate to determine if training is necessary and the three areas that would need to be addressed. What information would you want to obtain in each area?
· Give some examples of business measures that the training could impact that might be relevant to these managers. Explain why they would be relevant.

The actions that would be appropriate would be is to first asses what to organization needs for training. This would include things needed to know, and what context of training or retraining the employees need. Second the organization analysis needs to be addressed. This would include determining what approach the training will need. The strategy of the organization will need to be known. The third I would use is a person analysis. Knowing what the person is doing wrong and how to fix it. If too many people are hanging up while waiting the other people’s issues are not being addressed fast enough. I would like to add a third in the re training process and that is planning the training. Going though the record and finding out where the employees are lacked is the best way to see exactly where the re training is needed and addressing the exact points where training is needed.
Employees could be retrained on how to take the calls. This can and will include simulated calls and being able to quickly handle them in a timely manner. Second being organized in handling the issues. This can include having properly learned or having a manual to organize what the customers may need and being able to process it in a timely manner. Third know what, when and how to process the returns over the phone. The employee needs to be re trained on how to handle the return fast and timely to ensure proper customer service. Going through the record files and seeing customer feedback and knowing exactly where the training is needed and who will be giving the corrective training will help the organization know what to aim for in re training.

Professor and class,
Suppose you are a training leader at a manufacturing company.
As the training leader it is my job to determine what needs to be done to make the process better. First, I would do a needs assessment. This will determine where my short falls are coming from. Once I determine what needs to change, first being too many customers hanging up after waiting for 5 minutes or more. If it is feasible, I would hire and train more customer service reps to answer phones to speed up the process. Next, I would dedicate a team of employees to handle all the income calls that cannot be handled quickly, that way the customers that have quick questions will be taken care of quickly.
· Give some examples of business measures that the training could impact that might be relevant to these managers. Explain why they would be relevant.
Training should be number two in any company, with safety being number one. If your employees are not properly trained, the job might not get done on time, people could get hurt doing their job, and morale would defiantly lack. Being properly trained gets you noticed and have a opportunity to advance in the company.

The Training Method and Process
Introduction: An HR Manager or Director often acts as a researcher in first determining what the problem is and then finding a solution. In this Assignment you examine the training process from a macro perspective. Read the short scenario and then respond to the checklist items.
Scenario: The HR Director of the management consulting firm you work for has tasked you, as HR Training Manager, with writing a summary of who, what, when, where, and why for a training program that one of the managers says is needed for existing and new consultants. He has only provided a brief description of the problem.
Lately the firm has been receiving complaints that the consultants are offending the various employees at client firms.
The manager suggests a week long training program to address the problems. The HR Director recognizes this is a vague description and maybe an inflated view of the training needed. He relies on you to provide him with a summary of the training steps involved and a possible outline of a training program.
Checklist:
· Determine the steps involved in addressing the request for a training program.
· What training methods would you use and why?
· Discuss a 1-day training schedule using the training methods you described above concerning the scenario and what might be included in a 1-day training in brief detail.
· discuss how the training methods you chose and the training you would provide would improve employee performance.
